Our Rooms

Providence is thoughtfully divided into three large rooms for Babies (0–2), Toddlers (2–3), and Preschool children (3–5), each offering fun, age-appropriate activities to support every stage of development, along with dedicated wet play facilities, bathrooms, and changing areas, plus access to a free-flow garden where children can play, learn, and explore together.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is built on the values that guide everything we do: we inspire, we respect, we believe in potential, we empathise, and we act with integrity. These values shape every experience we offer.

Guided by Values
Our curriculum is built on the values that guide everything we do: we inspire, we respect, we believe in potential, we empathise, and we act with integrity. These values shape every experience we offer.
EYFS Curriculum Approach
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to give children a rich, balanced and developmentally appropriate start. Through this framework, we nurture curiosity, exploration and a lifelong love of learning.
Balanced Learning Experiences
Children enjoy a mix of child‑led and adult‑led activities. This balance allows them to follow their interests while also benefiting from planned learning experiences. It helps them grow in independence, resilience, social skills and problem‑solving.
Individual Development Planning
To support each child as an individual, we use the Birth to Five Matters framework to understand their development and plan meaningful next steps. Our practitioners observe, reflect and adapt the curriculum to suit different learning styles, interests and needs.
Smooth School Transitions
Transitions are an important part of our curriculum. We work closely with local schools to ensure children feel confident, prepared and emotionally ready for the next stage of their education.
Strong Future Foundations
By the time children leave us, they do so with strong foundations, a secure sense of self, and the curiosity and resilience they need for the future.

Your Child’s Journey into Nursery

Starting nursery is a big step for both you and your child, and at YMCA Childcare we’re committed to making the transition as smooth, positive and reassuring as possible.

Settle Sessions

Before your child officially starts, we offer settle sessions to help them gently adjust to their new environment.

  • Session 1:1 Hour – We recommend you stay with your child.
  • Session 2: 2 Hours – We encourage you to leave your child so we can see how they settle.

If your child needs additional sessions, we’ll happily arrange these with your key person and Room Leader to ensure they feel fully comfortable and secure.

Your child will be supported by a dedicated key person and co‑key person who will build a strong, trusting relationship with them. Your key person will spend time getting to know your child, and will work with you to share important information about their routines, interests and needs. This helps us create a smooth, personalised start to nursery life.

Every child is unique, and we celebrate that. Our approach promotes equality, diversity and a deep respect for each child’s individuality. We create the foundations for children to belong, contribute and thrive by ensuring they feel safe, stimulated and genuinely cared for. By taking the time to understand your child’s interests, routines and family circumstances, we help them settle quickly and confidently. We also want you to feel fully involved and assured that your child’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.

Transitions

Moving to a New Room:

We want every transition to feel positive for you and your child. Before moving rooms, your child will enjoy short play sessions in their new space, supported by their key person. They’ll gradually meet their new key person and take part in familiar activities. We’ll keep you updated throughout.

Moving to School:

When it’s time for school, we work closely with your child’s new setting to ensure a smooth handover. Teachers are invited into nursery to meet your child and learn about their interests and routines. In some cases, your child’s key person may join you on a transitional visit to support continuity and communication.

Parents As Partners

Partnership with Parents

We know children flourish when nursery and home work together. As your child’s first and most important educator, your involvement is essential. We offer termly parent meetings, stay‑and‑play sessions and regular opportunities to join us in the setting. We also run parent webinars and provide information on topics such as home learning and healthy eating to support you beyond the nursery day.

Your voice matters. We welcome your feedback, ideas and suggestions to help us continually strengthen the high‑quality care and education we provide.

Learning Journey – ParentZone

ParentZone is a secure and easy‑to‑use app that keeps you connected to your child’s learning at nursery. You can view photos, videos and observations, and you can also share your own moments from home so we can build a complete picture of your child’s development together. Our team uses iConnect to record observations securely in real time. Once your child starts nursery you will receive a secure email to activate your account. If you need help, please let a member of our team know.
